E-Safety Assembly

In January, we decided to present an assembly on E-safety to Key Stage 2, with a focus on social media, as we knew that a lot of children in our school got devices for Christmas that connect to the internet. We asked which social media apps and websites the children in KS2 used, and how they can keep themselves safe while using them, including what to do if they feel like something isnt right.

Fire Safety

On January 10th we took part in a Fire Safety Workshop ran by Birchwood Fire Service with our Year 5 class. They came in and spoke to us about fire safety, preventing fires and what to do in a fire. We now have lots of knowledge to help keep safe, and even had a go in the smoke tent to see what conditions are like in a smoke filled room. We would like to share some of the information we gained and the hints and tips we learned.

Causes of Fire

There are many causes of fire in the home; leaving lit candles unattended, faulty electrical wiring, leaving the stove unattended. We would like to share the following video with you. Please click on the image below.

One of the key things Birchwood Fire Service taught us was the importance of a fire escape plan. This is vital so that in the event of a fire, everyone knows what to do. Do you have a fire escape plan at home? It's important to discuss this with your family. Please see the picture below for advice. There are also videos on the Cheshire Fire and Rescue website, which is linked opposite.
