Music 2

Intent

The intent of our Music curriculum is to ensure our children have high exposure to music and all that it encompasses, having many opportunities to perform their work in addition to a wide variety of music experiences through visiting theatres and concerts. They will be encouraged to develop a love of music and their skills as musicians through a creative and engaging curriculum supported by the Charanga scheme of work and the Accent music project which focuses of Gospel and Drumming.

The children will listen critically to, and engage in, a variety of music. They will be encouraged to explore their own thoughts and feelings in response to music from a variety of genres and musical eras.

Alongside the teaching of knowledge, skills and understanding within the subject, it is our aim to promote positive mental health and well-being in all pupils through the development of SMSC within the listening an appraising section of the lessons. We believe that the children need to have exposure and experience of a wide variety of the arts to help them to have a richer and fuller life.
