Year 5 Jodrell Bank Trip

Year 1 visited Jodrell Bank as part of their Science topic 'Earth and Space'. While there they investigated the telescope, learning that it listens for radio waves. They also had the opportunity to look around the centre and learn about the solar syatem and the planets and objects within it. They also took part in various workshops. Without a doubt their favourite part of the day was the 'Mars Rover Challenge', where they had to design a container for an egg that would keep the egg safe when dropped from a height. 2 out of 5 groups succeeded in this challenge, not bad when you think NASA's success rate is about 50%!
