Home Learning

During the mandated closure of St. Peter's, we would still like our children to be provided with opportunities to learn. Below you will find work that can be completed at home that Miss Fallon has prepared. All learning links to what the Year 1 children have been learning in class. Paper and books will be sent home for children to complete their work on, or please feel free to print the sheets off at home if you have access to a printer. If you complete work on paper please be aware you may need to write out sentences/calculations, etc that you see on the screen to be able to accurately complete the task. (SPaG Mats, etc.)

Week 1:

All work can be completed in the books/ on the paper sent home. Please do not feel the need to print anything out. If you do wish to print resources, please feel free.

  • Read through the Materials Knowledge Organiser (Resources) and discuss the key vocabulary with your adult.
  • Read through the Materials Powerpoint (Resources).
  • Using the Materials Hunt worksheet (Resources) make a tally chart of how many of each material you can find at your house. Then complete the hunt again, but this time make a tally chart for materials that you find outside on a walk.
  • Compare the two charts. Did you find more / less of certain materials when you where outside than inside. Why do you think this was?

Please either take a photo of your work and upload it to SeeSaw, or upload the document straight to SeeSaw.

Design and Technology - In class we have been creating windmill structures. The 3 main parts that we have been learning about are the supporting structure, turbines / sails, axils.

In class we have been making our own windmills based on a design criteria. Using the windmill resources (Resources) can you make your own windmill at home? (A card template will be sent home too) Please take photos of your creations and upload to SeeSaw.
