Home Learning

During the mandated closure of St. Peter's, we would still like our children to be provided with opportunities to learn. Below you will find work that can be completed at home that Mrs Rutty has prepared. All learning links to what the Year 2 children have been learning in class. Paper and books will be sent home for children to complete their work on, or please feel free to print the sheets off at home if you have access to a printer. If you complete work on paper please be aware you may need to write out sentences/calculations, etc that you see on the screen to be able to accurately complete the task. (SPaG Mats, etc.)

Week 1:

All work can be completed in the books/ on the paper sent home. Please do not feel the need to print anything out. If you do wish to print resources, please feel free.

Reading Plus – 2 comprehensions per day

Maths Frame – x2, x5, x10 times table, once per day

Spelling Frame – 1 game or activity per day

Maths Skills 6 a day – once per day (answers on PDF)

Maths - 1 activity to be completed daily

Writing: 1 activity per day

This work can either be written or typed. If you write your work, please take a photo and upload it to SeeSaw. If you type it, please save the document and then upload it to SeeSaw.

  • Draw a picture of your house and label it.
  • Write sentences using adjectives to describe a room in your house.
  •  Hide and seek: Write a set of instructions on how to find something in your bedroom. Think about the positional language to help find the object.
  •  Diary: Keep a diary of things that happen outside one of the windows in your house. Write down sentences using suffixes. Try to use exclamation marks.
  • Describe your dreamhouse and explain what makes it the perfect home for you.

Remember to try and include all the writing features we have been learning about in Year 2.

SPAG Mat – 2 to be completed per week (1* = easiest, 2** = expected, 3***=challenging, answers on PDF)

Book review – 1 to be completed

History – 1 piece of research and writing (See PowerPoint on resources) Please either take a photo of your work and upload it to SeeSaw, or upload the document straight to SeeSaw.

Design and Technology - See resources, to be completed over 2 weeks. Please upload any photos of your creations to SeeSaw.

Computing - 1 activity to be completed per week. Please take your time to explore the website. We have used this website and the resources on it in school as a class.Please take a screenshot of any completed activities and upload to SeeSaw.

Music - Compose your own song which is at least 20 seconds long that can be used when you wash your hands. Please upload a video of this to SeeSaw.

Children all have individual passwords to SeeSaw and Reading Plus. Mrs Rutty has also provided children with a pupil log-in to Classroom Secrets. We kindly ask that children take the opportunity to explore this website and complete any work that they feel comfortable with. They have acess to interactive maths, SPAG and Reading comprehensions.

Any work that you think is suitable to be uploaded to See Saw, please feel free to do so.

  • Describe the beach at the start of the film.
  • Describe the beach after the bubbles have been blown.
  • Compare this film to the story of Alice in Wonderland – what is similar? What is different?
  • Write the story for the film as it is.
  • Re-write the story in first person imagining that you find the bubbles, where do they take you?
